Terms of Use of the Legalia app
1. Parties and acceptance
These terms govern the use of the Legalia app for iOS, Android and the web (together, the “App”), provided by SCALELAW SOLUTIONS SRL (brand Applexium), IDNO 1025600064372, registered office: Chișinău municipality, Buiucani district, str. Calea Ieșilor 67, of. 9, Republic of Moldova (“we”). By creating an account or using the App you confirm that you have read and accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. What Legalia is
Legalia is an educational platform for law students: quizzes by discipline, mock exams, audio and video lessons, mind maps, duels with other users and leaderboards. The content is for educational purposes only. It is not legal advice, may contain errors or references to legislation amended afterwards, and does not guarantee passing any exam. Always check the official sources.
Independent product. Legalia is an independent educational product of SCALELAW SOLUTIONS SRL. Legalia is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the National Institute of Justice (Institutul Național al Justiției), the Bar Association of the Republic of Moldova (Uniunea Avocaților din Republica Moldova), any university or any state authority. The names of institutions are used only to describe the exams and curricula the materials help prepare for.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- You provide accurate information and keep your sign-in credentials confidential; you are responsible for the activity in your account.
- One person may hold one account. Accounts may not be sold or transferred.
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Account (“Cont”) → Delete account (“Șterge contul”); deletion is permanent.
4. Rules of conduct and user-generated content
Your display name, @username, profile description and avatar are visible to other users. Content or behaviour that is obscene, vulgar, discriminatory, incites hatred, harasses, threatens, impersonates another person or an institution, promotes illegal activities, contains third parties' personal data or unsolicited advertising is strictly prohibited, as is any attempt to cheat in quizzes, duels or leaderboards.
Zero tolerance. We automatically filter offensive terms when a profile is created, review every report within 24 hours, remove content that breaks the rules, and may suspend or permanently terminate the author's account, without a refund. From any user's profile you can report abuse and block the user. After you block someone, the blocked user disappears from your leaderboards, search, friends list and requests, the friendship between you is removed, and the system rejects any new friend request or duel challenge between the two accounts. Messages. Messages, photos, files and voice messages sent in conversations are user-generated content and follow the same rules, with zero tolerance for offensive content, harassment, threats, spam and unsolicited advertising. Message text passes through an automatic filter of offensive terms, and the number of messages and of message requests to strangers is limited. You can report any message (long-press it → Report) and block the sender; a message reported by three people in a group is hidden automatically until it is reviewed. For violations we may hide or delete messages and restrict sending messages for 24 hours, 7 days or permanently; the conversation with the Legalia team always stays open. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted — do not send anything you would not show the moderation team (for example data from real cases or other people's personal data).
5. The Legalia Premium subscription
- Quizzes by discipline, mock exams, duels, review, leaderboards and mind maps are free. Legalia Premium gives full access to the video and audio lessons; without a subscription you can play the first 20% of each lesson. Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or annual. The price, the period and the exact contents are shown in the App before you confirm the purchase.
- In the iOS and Android apps the subscription is purchased through your Apple App Store or Google Play account respectively, which is charged when you confirm the purchase, and it is managed from that same account.
- The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the price shown unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You cancel it in your Apple Account settings (Subscriptions) or in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, and access remains until then.
- Refund terms are described in section 7. You can restore a purchase on the Premium screen (“Restaurează” / Restore).
- We may change the price for future periods; you will be notified in advance according to the store's rules and will be able to cancel before the new price applies.
- Purchases made through other channels are governed by the payment terms presented at the moment of purchase.
- For iOS users, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies in addition; in case of conflict with these terms, the Apple agreement prevails as regards the relationship with Apple.
6. Delivery of the service
Legalia is a digital service; there is no physical delivery and no delivery charge.
- Premium access is activated automatically right after the purchase is confirmed — usually within seconds, in rare cases within a few minutes.
- The service is available in the iOS and Android apps and in the browser, with the same account, for the whole subscription period.
- Technical requirements: a device running iOS 16.4 or later, Android 8 or later, or a modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge), and an internet connection — audio and video lessons are streamed.
7. Returns and refunds
- For subscriptions purchased in the App Store or Google Play, refunds are handled by Apple or Google respectively, under their policies; requests are submitted directly to the store.
- Purchases made through other channels are subject to the refund rules in the payment terms presented at the moment of purchase.
- If we permanently discontinue a paid service, we refund the unused period pro rata.
8. Intellectual property
The App, the questions, explanations, audio and video lessons, mind maps, design and the Legalia trademarks belong to us or are used under licence and are protected by copyright law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the App for learning. Copying, systematic extraction, redistribution or commercial use of the content, and reverse engineering of the App, are prohibited. The illustrated avatars use the DiceBear “Toon Head” collection (Johan Melin, CC BY 4.0).
9. Availability and changes
We strive to keep the App available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, content or leaderboards and may publish updates to the App. If we permanently discontinue a paid service, you will be informed and we will refund the unused period under section 7.
10. Termination
We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, the law or the rights of others, or if an account has been inactive for more than 24 months, with prior notice by email. You may terminate at any time by deleting your account.
11. Limitation of liability
The App is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for academic or professional results, for indirect losses, or for damage resulting from the use of or inability to use the App. Our total liability to you is limited to the amounts you paid for the App in the last 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Moldova. Disputes are settled amicably and, failing agreement, by the competent courts of Chișinău municipality, without prejudice to consumers' right to bring proceedings before the courts of their place of residence.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the App at least 14 days before they take effect; continuing to use the App after that date means you accept them. The current version is available at legalia.md/terms/.
